Grand Canyon Helicopters

Las Vegas is a great place to stage a helicopter ride to the Grand Canyon. Tours are competitively priced and there are plenty of trips from which to choose. Of the best, this page lists the top 3.

Best Grand Canyon Helicopter Tours From Las Vegas, NV

I love Las Vegas. The entertainment. The gaming. The shows! But a lot of visitors overlook the fact that Vegas is a great place from which to take a Grand Canyon day trip. Especially if you go by helicopter.

Tour selection is phenomenal. There's the standard aerial tour, perfect for visitors who are pressed for time. However, for a real canyon experience, I recommend landing tours. The best range from sharing a Champagne toast at the bottom to sightseeing from the deck of the Grand Canyon Skywalk.

Pricing is very competitive. Unlike other destinations, Vegas is home to the several of the world's largest tour operators, and they all offer specials and promotions in order to maintain market share. These days I regularly see mark-downs by as much as 35 percent! On the other hand, I'm seeing fewer 2x1 deals.

These tours are by far the most popular,

Defy gravity? That's what it feels like when you do the Skywalk, which extends 70 feet past the edge of the rim while suspending you 3,500 feet over the bottom! Saying its "intense" is an understatement. In addition to unlimited Skywalk access, you get two hours inside Grand Canyon West. Points of interest include Guano Point, Eagle Point, Indian Cultural Village and Hualapai Ranch. Trip's all-inclusive and comes with BBQ lunch. Tour duration: 6 hours.

Obviously, the more comprhensive the package, the larger the price break. Go here for more helicopter tour discounts from Las Vegas.

I want to point out that Vegas helicopter tours only go to the West Rim, which is 120 miles to the east. If you want to visit the South Rim, take this airplane/helicopter combo package. Otherwise, the flight route is similiar for both and comes with air time over Lake Mead and the Hoover Dam.

I strongly advise booking your helicopter ride in advance. These air tours are immensely popular and sell out quickly. I used to think this was just the case during winter when fewer aircraft were in operation, but it's clear that demand outstrips supply every season. This wasn't the case several years ago.

Parting words: Purchase your tour online. It's cheaper. In fact, most if not all specials today require an online booking. I agree that it's tempting to call customer support but in the end you'll be charged rack rate for the convenience. So save your hard-earned money. Buy it online.
